Environment:
Windows Server 2012 R2
Office Web Apps Server 2013 with SP1
Issue:
When performing a brand new Office Web Apps Server installation, we received the error during the installation:
“Setup is unable to proceed due to the following error(s): This product requires Microsoft .Net Framework 4.5”
We know that we have .Net 4.5 installed when we ran the Office Web Apps server pre-requisites as per the Technet article https://technet.microsoft.com/en-CA/library/jj219455.aspx
However, we also have .NET 4.6 and .NET 4.6.1 installed because we installed all the windows updates.
Resolution:
To get the Office Web Apps Server to install, we had to remove the .NET 4.6 and .NET 4.6.1
- For .NET Framework 4.6.1 we removed the following KB: KB3102467
- For .NET Framework 4.6 we removed the following KB: KB3045563
Once the above .NET versions were uninstalled we were able to complete the Office Web Apps installation, once that was completed we ran windows update and re-installed the .NET 4.6/4.6.1
