Resetting Lync Dialin pin number without Enterprise voice

Last week I was on a deployment where the client has Lync 2013 Enterprise calls for conferencing only as they wanted to implement 1 to many Audio/Video/Dialin/Web Conferencing to replace a costly hosted Webex solution.

The deployment went smooth and we were in the testing stages to ensure appropriate functionality when we noticed when we browsed to https://dialin.company.com and logged in as the user we received the error

dialin error

Which is the error that you receive when the user does not have a LineURI assigned to them but since the client doesn’t have ProPlus Licensing for enterprise voice the only way to fix the issue was to update the CSUser attribute in powershell or modify the Active Directory Attribute for the user with the appropriate LineURI format.

Set-CsUser -Identity username -LineUri phoneNumber  (format must be Tel:+XXXXXXXX;ext=XXXX)

Once the attribute gets updated, the user can now log into https://dialin.company.com and reset their pin number.
