Voicemail to Email user opt out

Environment:

Exchange Unified Messaging 2013 – Exchange UM

Cisco Unified Communications Manager – CUCM

Issue:

In the situation we were having the client wanted to have the option for an end-user to opt out of voicemail to email but still wanted them to have voicemails.

Resolution:

Step 1 – Create the account and enable the mailbox

  1. Create a new Active Directory Account
  2. Connect to your Exchange Environment https://mail.domain..com/ecp with the appropriate credentials
  3. Enable the new Active Directory User Account for an Exchange Mailbox
  4. The account does not require email from the outside as this is voicemail only.
  5. Use the default retention setting from the mailbox database.
  6. Do no display this account in the GAL
  7. Select what database the mailbox will reside.
  8. Complete the mailbox creation.

Step 2 – Enable the mailbox for Exchange UM

  1. Connect to your Exchange Environment https://mail.domain..com/ecp with the appropriate credentials
  2. Select Recipients -> Click Mailboxes
  3. Search for the User-Extension name you wish to enable Ex: 1234@domain.com
  4. Select them from the list below
  5. On the right hand side under Phone and Voice Features select Enable
  6. Click Browse and Select the correct UM Mailbox Policy , click Next
  7. Click ok
  8. On the User configuration Page
  9. Enter the x digit extension number of the new Users Phone number.
  10. Leave the other fields default
  11. Pin Settings – Type in a Pin
    1. Make sure the pin number adheres to the Pin Policy
  12. Click Finish
  13. Provide the pin number to the user directly via email as they will not be receiving the welcome to Exchange Unified Messaging Email
